I love acclimating myself to a new city. And our “new” city is Baltimore.
I’ve always loved Baltimore but have not taken the time to really get to know it until recently. Part of my new interest stems from understanding a little better where my new students are coming from. It’s truly “charm city” in so many ways…
Baltimore, to a “Washingtonian”, is an artsy, grungy, cheaper, quirkier, more cobblestoned city. The difference is refreshing and new.
A couple of the places I want to share and which are great for exploring with a little one…
1. Patterson Park. Awesome pagoda and good trails for strolling, jogging, dog-walking. (patterson park pic)
2. Highlandtown. The new “up and coming” part of town just above Fells Point. It’s quirky and weird and full of authentic Hispanic restaurants. Yum!
3. Canton / Brewer’s Hill. Full of little crazy bars and delicious restaurants. I really like Tavern on the Square for its great outdoor seating, people-watching and easy, baby-friendly atmosphere.
Also be sure to check out Baltimore Love Project’s murals as you wander about town!
Also check out the Baltimore Farmers Market!
Enjoy!
